Never Miss a Bite

Experience

When users open the app, an algorithm picks a restaurant for the user based on the user’s location and preferences. Users will see a visual menu of the restaurant.

If the restaurant has a promotion, the top of the page will have a text field that says what promotions they are having such as “3 course set lunch for just $35.” The top part of the page will show the special promotions menu, followed by the regular menu.

If users are unhappy with the option, they can swipe left and another visual menu from another restaurant will appear. Otherwise they can swipe right and get more information.

Have you ever spent hours pondering which restaurant to visit? Have you ever wished you could see pictures of dishes before going out to eat? PicFood is the one-stop solution that helps you pick restaurants by showing visual menus and giving discounts at participating restaurants.

Project Overview

PicFood is a web and mobile food app that helps users find and decide on food and gives users discounts. The idea behind PicFood was to have all the key features of trending apps. More specifically, PicFood combines the picture-based aspect of Instagram, the rating aspect of Yelp and the discount aspect from Groupon.

Our goal with PicFood is to change the way you look for food. When shopping for anything else online, it's easy to find a visual catalog with a preview of each item. However, this is not always the case when looking for what to eat. Why is it that, even though food is such a major part of our lives, there isn't a great way to browse for it online? People love looking at images and videos of food, but websites like Yelp only show an unorganized glimpse of the dishes at any given restaurant. PicFood aims to show users all the delicious options restaurants have to offer in a vivid, mouth watering way.

Vision

PicFood allows groups to easily decide where to eat with the group voting functionality.

From the search page, users only need to click on "Group Search" for a group ID, website link, and QR code will be generated. Any of these options can be used to reach the voting screen.

From there, users just need to vote yes or no and a restaurant will be chosen in no time!
